Asphalt 9: Legends Review

Asphalt 9: legends

Asphalt Legends 9, the latest edition of Gameloft's flagship Asphalt series, is here and it’s already making a huge splash on the mobile racing scene. Whether you’re an old school racer or a recent newbie, there’s something here to keep you busy – as long as you don’t mind parting with your cash every so often to unlock new cars and tracks. But who wants to do that?

Editor's Choice Awards

Asphalt Legends 9 is undoubtedly a blast to play and fans of racing games will no doubt be delighted with what Gameloft has brought to us in Asphalt 9. Not only is it one of the best looking titles on mobile, it also comes with a range of compelling features and game modes, so as well as challenging ourselves we can also get competitive amongst our friends. The more we play, however, it becomes clear that Asphalt Legends: Nitro isn’t perfect. There are some issues which hold it back from being great but overall we still think it’s worth picking up if you enjoy arcade racers. We think Gameloft could easily improve upon its shortcomings with future updates but for now, Asphalt 9 is still an absolute blast to play!

Best Cars

While every car on Asphalt 9 Legends has its benefits, these are some of our favorite best cars on Asphalt 9 Legends. While each is great in their own right, we generally advise using either Hot Hatch or Muscle cars as your primary ride, with a touch of SUV if you’re feeling bold. These are all considered to be a bit higher-powered than most others you’ll encounter while playing Asphalt 9: Apex. In addition to being faster and more powerful than other vehicles in Asphalt 9, they also offer better handling and acceleration. They’re not easy to master, but once you do they can make for an extremely rewarding experience.

Coins and Cash Rewards

The next major thing you can spend your coins on are Cash Rewards. In Asphalt 9, cash rewards allow you to buy new liveries for your cars and also customise your garage. You’ll be awarded one reward per race depending on how well you finish or what challenges you complete in a particular race. The higher up you place, the more cash rewards you get. And don’t worry about not getting enough coins—you’ll earn plenty of them as you play through all of Asphalt 9‘s events.

Bonus Values

Asphalt 9 brings enough brand new content and updates that it’s practically its own game. Firstly, there are an additional 12 Events: 5 events for each career mode, 1 campaign for each type of season (Pro League, Pro Challenges, Real Racing), 2 online events (1v1 and 2v2), a dedicated boss event, and an event with a prize car. There is also a brand new city called Tokyo, which is split into two parts—the first half has 6 tracks and is playable from level 15 onwards; the second half has 4 tracks and requires level 30 to unlock. Finally, you can now challenge your friends to races via Facebook Messenger! This feature will be available at launch in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK & US. It will come to other countries in future updates.

My Favorite Parts of the Game

As someone who grew up in Asphalt legends 9, I am used to hard crashes, but nothing like I experienced in my time with 9. The game is big and detailed, from my car to every building around me, everything felt bigger than life and felt true to life. And that’s one of my favorite parts of Asphalt legends 9: it feels true to life. It has a lot of detail, which makes playing feel more realistic. You can see your own driver move when you steer your car; you can see other drivers get out of their cars after a crash; you can even see them look at each other while they are waiting for a race to start! It all adds up to make Asphalt legends 9 feel real and fun at the same time.

Final Verdict

Asphalt Legend 9 is an excellent mobile racing game. It’s got plenty of tracks and a ton of unlockable vehicles, which has kept me coming back for more! I highly recommend it to racing game fans. This one gets a 10/10 from me.
