What Is Snapseed?
Snapseed is an image editing application, and was developed by Nik Software. It was acquired by Google in September 2012 and became a part of Google's mobile photography platform, which includes apps such as Photo Sphere and Panorama. The official version runs on devices with Android 2.3 (API level 9) or later. An iOS version has been released for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 6.0 or later. The Windows Phone 8 version was released on December 18, 2013. On May 31, 2014 Google announced that it would be discontinuing support for Snapseed for Windows Phone 8 at some point in July 2014 although it would continue to be available to users who already have it installed. As of June 19, 2016, there are no plans to release an updated version for Windows 10 Mobile. In addition to supporting standard image file formats, Snapseed also supports importing images from online sources including Facebook, Flickr and Picasa Web Albums. Users can also take pictures directly within the app using its built-in camera functionality.
Download And Install The App
If you have an iPhone, then you’re in luck! This means you already have Snapseed. It comes pre-installed on all iPhones from iOS 8 and up. Go ahead and open it. If not, then search for Snapseed in your App Store and get to downloading! If you are using an Android phone, however, then we can show you how to install it. The process is a little different, but we’ll walk you through it step by step. Just follow these instructions:
Download Google Play store here if you don’t already have it installed on your device.
Open Google Play store and search for Snapseed Tap Install Follow any additional prompts to complete installation.
When installation is complete, tap Open That's it! You should now be able to use Snapseed whenever you want.
How To Use The App For Editing Photos
The Snapseed mobile app allows you to quickly edit photos and add interesting effects to make your pictures pop. Here are some steps you can follow to make edits that perfectly suit your tastes
1) Select a photo from your phone’s gallery or take a new one with your camera. You can also use an image from another source, such as Instagram or Facebook, but make sure it’s saved on your phone first. Then open up Snapseed by tapping on its icon in the apps menu of your device.
2) Once you’re in Snapseed, tap on edit at the top right corner of your screen. This will give you access to all editing tools and filters available for use.
3) To begin editing, tap on adjustments at the bottom left corner of your screen. This gives you access to brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature and sharpness controls. When adjusting these settings, keep in mind that brightening or darkening your picture may be necessary depending on how much light was present when you took it.
4) After making any necessary adjustments to brightness and contrast levels (or leaving them alone), tap on filters at the bottom right corner of your screen. This gives you access to many different types of filters which alter specific elements of your picture.
5) If you want to try out a filter before applying it, simply tap on it. A preview of what your picture will look like after applying that filter will appear in place of where your current photo is displayed.
6) If you decide not to apply a filter after previewing it, just tap anywhere outside of its preview box and then go back into adjustments mode by tapping on adjustments again at the bottom left corner of your screen.
7) Once you’ve made any final adjustments to your picture, tap on save at the top right corner of your screen. Your edited photo will now be saved to your phone so you can share it with friends or upload it online!
